Growing Food in an Arid Land
Hidden Roots, Future Harvests is an ongoing community series exploring the cultural, ecological, and historical roots of food in the Southwest and beyond. Through presentations, conversations, demonstrations, and shared meals, the series seeks to connect people to the stories, traditions, and communities that continue to shape how food is grown, prepared, and understood across generations.
This session will focus on farming and food traditions in arid lands, with particular attention to Hopi dryland agriculture, seed stewardship, resilience, and Indigenous ecological knowledge. The evening is envisioned not simply as a lecture program, but as an immersive community gathering that combines experiential learning, storytelling, conversation, and food.
The event is in partnership with the Yavapai-Prescott Community Garden and the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe Community Center.

Fall Harvest Festival
Join us for the fifth annual Fall Harvest Festival in partnership with Prescott College. Let us celebrate the end of the growing season with community growers and food-based organizations. Music, food, activities, and a good time! We will provide a fall-themed communal dinner at 5pm.
Compost Tour
Join us for a tour of several diverse compost systems in the Prescott area, including the Prescott Community Compost Program, Delicious Earth Farm, Granite Peak Universal Unitarian Church, Prescott College, and Yavapai College. The tour will give participants an in-depth look at small- to community-scale systems to demonstrate how organics are recycled in our community and to inspire what can be done in their own backyard.

Join Slow Food Prescott at the Farmers Market Food Education Booth on Saturday. We will make and share samples of a dish TBD.
Picnic with Petrini
Join us on Saturday, June 14, from 4-6 pm at Granite Creek Park. We will honor Slow Food’s founder, Carlo Petrini, who was a visionary. Out of the threat of McDonalds opening in Rome, he started Slow Food, spread it worldwide, and then started the University of Gastronomic Sciences. Bring local food to the potluck and tell one Carlo Petrini story.

Garden Giveaway
Please join us on Saturday, May 9th, from 9-10:30am at Skyview School for our annual Garden Supply Distribution Event. Seeds, soil, fertilizer, and irrigation supplies will be available for small-scale gardeners. This Slow Food Prescott event is made possible through the generous support of the Yavapai Community Foundation.
Agave Spirits with Gary Nabhan
Gary Nabhan will be joining us at The Fairweather to share insights from his book Agave Spirits: The Past, Present, and Future of Mezcals. It is free to attend the book talk and signing. Copies of Agave Spirits and other books by Gary Nabhan will be for sale at the event by Peregrine Book Company. This collaborative event will include a curated mezcal and tamale tasting. Co-owner of the Crescent Bar, Aaron, will share his knowledge of artisanal spirits and lead a mezcal tasting. Slow Food Prescott is partnering to provide a curated food tasting as part of its Lecture & Food Series, "Hidden Roots, Future Harvests". Mezcal-inspired dessert tamales will be available for purchase and prepared with locally grown heritage corn, pecans, and apples.
Earth Day on the Square
Join us on Cortez St in downtown Prescott for the 2026 Earth Day on the Square event. Slow Food Prescott will have a booth with delicious mesquite cookies to sample. Come visit us and the dozens of other community tablers doing work to protect the Earth!
Seed Mania! 2026
Join us for the annual Seed Mania event at the Prescott College Crossroads Center on Sunday, March 22nd, from 1-6pm. Explore community tables, taste new batches of mushrooms and sourdough, listen to folky-fiddlin’ music, and of course—FREE SEEDS! Please stick around for our communal seed-themed meal with a keynote talk by Earl Duque of Delicious Earth Farm.
Garden Educator Gathering
Join us Monday, February 9th for our Winter Garden Educator Gathering. The gathering will take place from 4:00-6:00 pm in the Prescott College Crossroads Center. Together, we'll explore ways that school gardens can be used to meaningfully teach students about history, culture, and heritage. We will be doing activities, having rich discussions and sharing food!
